A homeowner in Vuda Point, Lautoka, Fiji, started with an Internet search to find the ideal batteries to power his off-grid solar home. He needed a solution that was both small and energy-dense. He found the answer in PHI batteries, which were compact enough to be installed in a small section of the kitchen and powerful enough to meet his home's average loads and provide three days of autonomy without a generator.

The homeowner contacted Pacific Green Power to build the microgrid. The system includes 18 270W QCells solar panels, a Victron Quattro 48/5000 inverter, two Blue Solar Charge MPPT 150.45 Charge Controllers and three PHI 3.4 kWh 48V batteries. It can power the entire house, including the refrigerator, lights, television, iron, kettle, microwave, laptop, washing machine, and submersible bore pump.

“We like the robustness of the batteries and that they are easy to install. We’re pleased to have been able to provide the homeowner with a heavy-duty system that will provide reliable power during one of those rainy weeks without sun.”
