Tiny homeowner and advocate Vina Lustado of Sol Haus Design relies on PHI batteries to power her combined home and office in Ojai, CA.

Office setup in a tiny home

The off-grid solar+battery storage system includes six PHI 2.6kWh batteries, providing 15.6kWh of storage, and two Magnum Energy MS-4024PAE inverters. The system powers the home refrigerator, LED lights, a fan, laptop, air conditioning, blender, rice cooker, office mini fridge, convection heater, desktop computer, LED lights, induction stove and plug-in kettle. A grid connection provides backup power, and Vina can seamlessly switch back and forth between microgrid and utility power.

Like so many home and business owners in California, the wildfires of 2017 underscored for Vina the need for reliable emergency power in the event of natural catastrophes and other emergencies. Vina wanted total energy security and the peace of mind that comes from knowing your power is in your own hands, even when the grid goes down.

“Tiny homes and tiny offices demand high-quality solutions in small packages — and PHI batteries deliver exactly that,” explains Vina. “We love that the batteries are completely non-toxic while delivering superior reliability in less space and with less weight.”
