Based in Taylors, South Carolina, Jaymarc Electric started in 1998 with one van and a few employees. Today, the company has a roster of 15 vans, 35 employees and more than 10,000 completed projects.

From its early days of offering residential and commercial electrical contracting, Jaymarc has expanded to include lighting controls, surge and lighting protection, standby generators, energy storage and EV charger installation.

Brandon Deal heads up Jaymarc’s recently established generators and backup solutions power division that was formed in response to customer requests.

“In our area, energy rates are rising, and we had customers who were considering solar and asking about backup battery power. We want to be a one-stop solution for our customers and felt creating the new division was a strategic move to retain existing customers and attract new ones. We didn’t want our customers going elsewhere.”

The area Jaymarc serves includes gated lake and mountain communities with custom-built homes. Many of the residents flocking to the Lake Keowee area are retirees from places like California and Texas where solar and battery backup are more common.

“Some of our customers have solar and batteries but, because the rates here aren’t favorable to sell back, they tap into battery power at night and get cost savings that way.”

While out-of-state retirees are one customer base for Jaymarc, another is custom home builders.

“Years ago, builders didn’t promote or include standby generators with their custom homes but that started to change and it’s become a more common offering. Builders are now taking the next step in technology and are recommending batteries as a backup power solution.”

But it’s not just custom homeowners who benefit from battery technology. Deal was able to tap into his four-battery Briggs & Stratton® AmpliPHITM battery system when the utility power was out following hurricane Helene.

“I kept my fridge and critical items powered for an entire week. Once you have the batteries, or a standby generator, you get peace of mind knowing you have a backup power source if a hurricane or other type of storm knocks out the grid.”

“We have been a dealer of Briggs & Stratton generators for over a decade now. We have always told our customers that the reason we chose to sell Briggs generators is because of the support we receive from them. It is important to us to feel like we are partnered with a company that looks out for its dealers. With our desire to expand our offerings to solar and battery backup, we were excited when Briggs started offering energy storage system (ESS) products. So far, we have seen the same helpfulness on the ESS products that we have come to expect from the generators.”
